Serious financial crimes: Ex-Black Wings boss receives hefty fine!

A former president and managing director of the Linz professional sports club Steinbach Black Wings Linz was legally sentenced to a fine of 300,000 euros before the Linz regional court on Monday for serious financial crimes. The charges were for tax evasion and payroll fraud amounting to millions of dollars, committed between 2014 and 2021.

The original amount of damage was estimated by the public prosecutor at a total of 1.14 million euros. Of this, more than 700,000 euros are said to have resulted from the violation of tax obligations, while another 360,000 euros were due to salary payments that were allegedly not taxed correctly.

The court imposed the fine, with half (150,000 euros) being imposed conditionally. The fact that the defendant had already paid back an amount of more than 670,000 euros before the trial and also made a full confession was seen as significantly mitigating the punishment.
