The EC iDM Heat Pumps VSV says goodbye to striker Guus Van Nes after two seasons together.
The Dutch native moved from the Pioneers Vorarlberg to Villach for the 2024/25 season after previously spending two years in the country. In his last season before the move, he impressed with one point per game and also played a key role in the playoffs against EC-KAC.
For VSV, van Nes, who wore number 26, played in a total of 88 games in the regular season and 12 playoff games. He scored 33 goals and prepared 27 more goals, resulting in a total of 60 points. With his style of play, he was much more than just an offensive player.
The 1.90 meter tall striker also took on defensive responsibility in Villach. He was an important part of the team, especially when he was outnumbered. In exactly 100 appearances for the blue-whites, he blocked 114 shots and also recorded 163 hits. His plus-minus record of +24 highlights his effectiveness from both ends of the ice.
The now 29-year-old stood out for his exemplary commitment and his willingness to take on any role that was given to him. He always put himself at the service of the team and contributed with great commitment.
It can also be assumed that the striker could return to his second home in Vorarlberg. Not least because his wife comes from there and the couple is expecting children.
