“Post-Game Interview” Manny Viveiros Game #233 | HCP vs RBS
About the coach of EC Red Bull Salzburg, Manny Viveiros, is charged with damaging sporting integrity in the “post-game interview” of game #233 on January 11th, 2026 of the win2day ICE Hockey League according to the ICE Hockey League Game Book – Part I | Disciplinary measures – Chapter IV. Substantive law – §2 Disciplinary measures and guidelines – (1) Disciplinary measures | Damage to sporting integrity – a fine of EUR 2,600.00 imposed, EUR 1,300.00 of which is subject to a probationary period of 24 months.
Justification
Through the statements made as part of a live TV broadcast, the coach gave the public the impression that decisions made by the referees and their evaluation by the responsible bodies of the win2day ICE Hockey League were not objective and consistent. The accusation of improper game management was raised particularly through the criticism of allegedly omitted punishment decisions and through the implicit questioning of the review of such incidents.
This constituted the offense of damaging sporting integrity in accordance with Part I | Disciplinary measures implemented. The penalty range provided for this is set out in the ICE Hockey League Game Book with a fine of EUR 500.00 to EUR 25,000.00.
The integrity, objectivity and impartiality of a league organization in general – and that of the win2day ICE Hockey League in particular – represent the highest protection of a professional sports organization. Trust in the neutrality of the referees and in the proper exercise of the control and decision-making functions by the league is a central basis for the acceptance of sporting competition.
Public statements that are made without providing reliable evidence, without factual differentiation and without formal involvement of the responsible committees and which give the impression of structurally wrong decisions or systematic negligence are likely to cause lasting damage to the product, reputation and credibility of the win2day ICE Hockey League. This is particularly true if such statements are made in a live streaming broadcast and thus reach a broad national and international audience unfiltered.
Complicating: Public statement as part of a streaming broadcast
Mitigating: Interview immediately after the end of the game, possible exceptional emotional situation
Addition: 50% of the fine imposed (EUR 1,300.00) is imposed conditionally, subject to a probationary period of 24 months. In the event that similar actions or statements occur within the next 24 months, the conditionally reviewed part of the fine will be revived. In accordance with the “Repeat Offender Regulation” of the win2day ICE Hockey League, any penalties must then be assessed at a 50% higher penalty, adding the currently conditional penalty.
