Sensational comeback: Rafael Rotter laces up his skates again!

This was not to be expected: Rafael Rotter returns to the ice and strengthens the WEV in the ÖEL!

After 21 years, Rafael Rotter returns to his roots and signs with WEV. In 2004, the now 38-year-old moved from the Viennese team to Red Bull Salzburg, where he scored two goals and nine assists in just one game for the U20, then collected 15 scorer points in 16 games for the second team and made his debut directly in the then EBEL. He collected nine goals and eleven assists in 44 appearances in his debut season and then moved to Canada.

After three years in the Canadian OHL, he returned to the domestic league in 2008, where he played 15 seasons, 14 of them for the Vienna Capitals and one for the Black Wings Linz. He ended his fantastic career with the Adler in Kitzbühel, where he also gained his first coaching experience as an assistant coach.

This year he returned to the Vienna Capitals as a skills coach and now the second sentimental return follows, namely to his hometown club, the WEV. The Viennese are currently in third place in the ÖEL Division East and will host the second-placed KSV Kangaroos at the Vienna Heumarkt today. It is unclear whether Rotter will make his debut today.
