The VSV is using the Olympic break intensively to plan the squad for the coming season. While sports director Herbert Hohenberger is exploring potential reinforcements in Europe, manager Martin Winkler and coach Pierre Allard are currently traveling in North America to observe players and make the first decisions.
The focus of the trip is not only on scouting, but also on ongoing discussions. “For scouting and also conducting negotiations,” Winkler confirmed to the “Kleine Zeitung” from Montreal. The VSV duo’s program is tightly scheduled: they landed in Canada on Tuesday and have since observed training sessions and games in several leagues. These include appearances in the AHL with the Laval Rockets, in the ECHL in Trois-Rivières and in the USports college league.
In parallel to the game and training visits, Winkler and Allard hold numerous meetings. Conversations with coaches and player agents are just as much a part of everyday work as direct exchanges about possible engagements.
