The Pioneers Vorarlberg narrowly lost to defending champions EC Red Bull Salzburg at home 3-4 after extra time. In the meantime, the eleventh-placed team was already 2-0 up and was on course for its second win of the season against the Mozartstadt team. In the end, however, the Red Bulls celebrated their third win in the fourth duel. Lucas Thaler made the decision in favor of the sixth-placed team in overtime. It wasn’t until the 32nd minute that Florian Baltram put Salzburg on the scoreboard, and a little later Dennis Robertson equalized. At the start of the final period, Lucas Thaler gave the Red Bulls the lead for the first time with his first goal of the evening. However, the Pioneers had the right answer and equalized in the 44th minute through Collin Adams. As a result, Salzburg pushed for victory, but Vorarlberg saved themselves in overtime. By winning points, the Pioneers reduced the gap to tenth place to eleven points.
