Rossi, Kasper & Co – The NHL starts tomorrow and Sky is back on board!

The NHL starts the new season on Tuesday. Sky Sport will continue to be the home of the best ice hockey league in the world and will broadcast around 300 games per season live in the coming years. As a rule, Sky Sport shows at least one match live per day – during the regular season and the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The games of the Austrian stars at the start of the NHL season

The Austrian NHL professionals Marco Rossi and Marco Kasper are also starting the new season with their teams. At the start of the NHL, Sky Sport will show a total of six games from the two Austrian teams in October – starting with the duel between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings with Marco Kasper on October 13th from 10:00 p.m. The first game of Marco Rossi and the Minnesota Wild, visiting the Washington Capitals with NHL legend Alexander Owetschkin, will be broadcast on the night of October 18th from 1:00 a.m. In addition to these games, Sky Sport shows the Detroit Red Wings and Marco Kasper against the Florida Panthers on the night of October 16th and against the New York Rangers on October 19th. Minnesota Wild and Marco Rossi will be guests at the New York Rangers on the night of October 20th and two days later, on the night of October 22nd, at the New Jersey Devils, also live on Sky Sport.

The 2025/26 season opener on Sky Sport

To get you in the mood for the new season, Sky Sport News will show the “Primetime Special: NHL is back” on Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. It starts just a few hours later at 11:00 p.m. with the opening game between the Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers and the Chicago Blackhawks, which Olivier Zwartyes and Patrick Köppchen commentate on.

New to Sky Sport’s NHL team this season is Yannic Seidenberg. The former national player and long-time DEL professional will strengthen the circle of experts alongside Patrick Ehelechner, Patrick Köppchen, Frank Mauer and Julia Zorn. There is also Michael Leopold, who has already played in the Stanley Cup Final in the past three seasons. In the future, he will also be a regular commentator during the regular season. The other commentators are Olivier Zwartyes, Marcel Meinert, Franz Büchner, Christoph Stadtler and Tobias Roth.

Yannic Seidenberg and Michael Leopold will make their first appearance of the new season together. On Saturday, October 11th, they will commentate together on the match between the Winnipeg Jets and the Los Angeles Kings from 7:30 p.m.

The NHL on Sky Sport

During the Regluar Season, Sky Sport will, among other things, broadcast the NHL Winter Classic and the games of the NHL Global Series live and will continue to regularly show the live broadcasts of NHL Saturday and NHL Sunday, which take place in prime time in Austria. Sky Sport will also provide comprehensive live coverage of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, including all matches from the two Conference Finals and the NHL Stanley Cup Finals. Selected games are accompanied by German commentary, all games are offered with the original English-language commentary.

In addition to the live broadcasts, Sky Sport also presents the highlight magazine “NHL On the Fly”. In addition, detailed 15-minute summaries of all games from the Edmonton Oilers, Detroit Red Wings, Ottawa Senators and Boston Bruins can be seen on the morning of the following day. This means that Marco Kasper’s fans can follow the Austrian star on Sky Sport even if they were unable to be there live that night or the game is not broadcast live.
