Rob Daum not only returned as a coach these days, but also with clear statements about the ICE Hockey League. The Linz champion coach from 2012, who now looks after the Alps club Kitzbühel, is following the Austrian league closely and is sure that his two former clubs will make it into the pre-playoffs.
“Linz and VSV will make it to the top 10,” the Canadian told the “Kronen Zeitung”. The 67-year-old also has other predictions ready: He also believes Fehervar and Vienna will make it into the top 10, but not Budapest. “The first year in the league is always difficult,” says Daum, explaining his assessment.
The former successful coach says about the Black Wings: “Linz had a very strong team last season, this year the start was tough. That has an impact, plus there are a lot of injuries.” Nevertheless, he sees potential: “Anything is possible in the play-offs.”
Daum attaches great importance to the environment in Linz. He particularly highlights the fans: “Linz has the best fans I’ve ever experienced. Even when things aren’t going well in terms of sport, they remain positive and supportive.” This is a clear advantage: “Players and coaches can concentrate fully on their work.”
