We have already reported today that the
Pioneers Vorarlberg
after the resignation of President
Pit Gleim a possible end threatens. Now new statements from the outgoing club boss to the “Vorarlberger Nachrichten” clearly support this development – and paint an even clearer picture of the precarious situation.
In a recent conversation with the “Vorarlberger Nachrichten”, Gleim made no secret of how serious the situation is. Despite large personal investments and years of commitment, it was not possible to put the project on a stable financial footing. “We really tried everything,” he emphasizes, but at the same time speaks of a “bottomless pit”.
Missing money
Above all, the lack of support from business has emerged as a central problem. The effects of the Corona years and the current tense economic situation have made many potential sponsors cautious. For professional gaming operations in the
ICE Hockey League the financial basis was ultimately too weak.
Player clearance granted
Particularly explosive: Gleim has already informed the players about the uncertain future – and advised them not to wait for a possible continued existence. If there are offers, they should be accepted. A clear signal that internally there is hardly any belief in a continuation.
With the announced end of the professional department, other people in charge are also facing the end, including the managing director
Christian Gross and sports director
Michael Lampert.
While Gleim emphasizes that he does not want to wage a “mud battle”, it is also clear that without new investors or fundamental changes, the chapter of professional ice hockey in Feldkirch is likely to end for the time being. The hope of a restart remains – but currently the concern is that the Pioneers are on the verge of final elimination.
