Findings of the ICE Disciplinary Senate in detail

Inappropriate Gesturing Tyler Lewington Game #249 | G99 vs RBS
The EC Red Bull Salzburg player, jersey number 2, Tyler Lewington, is charged with damaging sporting integrity in game number 249 of the win2day ICE Hockey League on January 23, 2026 according to the ICE Hockey League Game Book – Part I | Disciplinary measures – Chapter IV Legal Law – § 2 Disciplinary measures and guidelines – Paragraph (1) Damage to sporting integrity a fine of EUR 2,400.00 will be imposed.

In addition, Tyler Lewington will be punished for insulting or threatening opposing players or the audience in accordance with the win2day ICE Hockey League Penalty Catalog, Ref. 33, an unconditional ban of five competitive games was imposed.

Reason:
The video recording of the relevant portion of the game from January 23, 2026 leaves no doubt about the gesture made by player Tyler Lewington. Tyler Lewington’s conduct is a clear violation of the win2day ICE Hockey League’s Code of Ethics and Disciplinary Procedures.

Through the gesture shown, the player has committed both the offense of damaging sporting integrity and the offense of insulting or threatening opposing players or the audience in accordance with Part I | Disciplinary measures implemented. The penalty range provided for this is set out in the ICE Game Book with a fine of EUR 500.00 to EUR 25,000.00 and alternatively or cumulatively with a ban of one game up to a lifelong ban. The integrity of a league organization in general – and that of the win2day ICE Hockey League in particular – represents the highest protected asset of a sports organization.

According to the win2day ICE Hockey League Code of Ethics, all parties belonging to the league are obliged to behave in accordance with the principles of dignity, integrity, loyalty and responsibility in all competitive, economic, social (including social media) and moral relationships.

The win2day ICE Hockey League expressly reiterates that disrespectful behavior and inappropriate gestures are not accepted in any form and must be consistently sanctioned in order to sustainably maintain the high standards of professionalism, respect and fair play within the league.

Complicating matters: The gesture in question was made after a fistfight on the open ice and during the way to the dressing room and was therefore clearly noticeable to players, officials, spectators in the arena and to a broad streaming audience. This significantly increased the external impact of the behavior.

Mitigating: The incident occurred immediately after a fist fight, a highly emotionally and physically stressful game situation. The gesture shown can therefore partly be seen as an affective reaction in an exceptional situation.

Addition:
The imposed fine of EUR 2,400.00 must be paid in full.

Comparable actions or statements within a period of 24 months are to be considered a repeat offense in accordance with the win2day ICE Hockey League’s “repeat offender rule”. In this case, any further disciplinary penalties are to be assessed with a 50% increase in the penalty.
