HC Falkensteiner Pustertal beats Olimpija Ljubljana 2-1 after extra time in the fifth semi-final game and meets the Graz99ers in the final. Veteran Rok Ticar scored the decisive goal in the 62nd minute.
Another extremely exciting semi-final game went into extra time for the second time in a row – this time with the better end for Pustertal. After 66 seconds, it was Rok Tičar who sent the 3,104 fans in the sold-out Intercable Arena into ecstasy and shot the South Tyroleans into the final for the first time in their fifth season in the league.
In the regular playing time, the defensive lines and goalkeepers in particular dominated the game. It wasn’t until the 39th minute that people celebrated for the first time when Nicolai Meyer put Olimpija Ljubljana in the lead in a power play. In the final section, however, almost only Pustertal played – in the end the score was 11:2. In the 53rd minute, a shot from Austin Osmanski finally found its way into the net to make it 1-1.
As a result, the Wolves still had a few chances to decide the game early. With just under a minute left, Cole Bardreau narrowly missed the empty net. In overtime, Pustertal picked up where they left off in regular time and scored the decisive goal after just 66 seconds.
In the final, Pustertal will now face the Moser Medical Graz99ers, who are also in the final for the first time. In the regular season, the 99ers won three of the four meetings.
