Maxime Lagace turned out to be a real top transfer from the Moser Medical Graz99ers. But will the Canadian continue to guard the Styrian goal in the future?
The Graz99ers’ new goalkeeper was introduced in mid-July. After two years in the Swedish SHL, the NHL-experienced Maxime Lagace moved to the Mur – and he lived up to all the praise.
Top statistics in a league-wide comparison
Lagace delivered and was one of the best goalkeepers in the entire league in the last regular season. Only Pustertal’s Eddie Pasquale (26) and Bozen’s Sam Harvey (24) had more wins than Lagace in the end – he had 23 wins. A goals conceded average of 2.01 meant top 3, his catch rate of 92% put him in fourth place.
His performances in recent games are also noteworthy: since February 22nd, Lagace has never allowed more than two goals in nine games. All the games were also won.
Positive signals, future still open, backup fixed
The Graz99ers know what they have in the Canadian and definitely want to keep the netminder in Styria, reports the “Crown newspaper“. Recently there are said to have been “positive signals” again. What is certain, however, is that Nicolas Wieser will also be in goal for the 99ers in 2026/27, as the Villach native is under contract with the Styrians until the end of the coming season.
