After the 2-0 defeat at the Graz99ers, EC VSV is still in the tight race for home rights for the ICEHL pre-play-offs. Despite a courageous performance, the Blue and Whites ultimately lacked goals. Now the Eagles are dependent on support from Klagenfurt!
With only three regular defenders in action, VSV fought bravely against the 99ers. Youngsters like Nico Uschan, Julian Raspotnig and Dominik Prodinger stepped in defensively, while goalie Rene Swette thwarted numerous chances for the Graz99ers. “We made life difficult for them,” Swette told the “Kleine Zeitung” with satisfaction, even if they didn’t win a point.
For the right to pick in the pre-play-off, the Villach team only has a combination of their own victory and help from their rivals KAC: On Sunday, Pustertal has to be beaten at home, while the Klagenfurters lose points against the Vienna Capitals. This is the only way VSV can hope for seventh place and the associated picking rights.
