That was a great game! Ljubljana are a good team, the best offensive team in the league, and they showed that today. I’m glad that Carter Souch scored the first goal on the power play because Laibach was setting up a lot of pace. It took us a third of the time to adjust to it. The puck was in our zone for a long time in the first third and it was important that we got through that without conceding a goal. From the second third onwards we got into it better and suddenly we were behind. That was tough, but the Souch-Wallner-Franklin offensive line had a very good game and carried us on offense.
Carter was our best player today. He showed a brilliant performance from the start. With the lead behind us, we were really good in the third period. We didn’t give them much and when it mattered most we had important blocks. Scott Kosmachuk made some important plays on defense. Thanks to our good defensive work, we had a few counterattack opportunities; if we had sunk one, it wouldn’t have been so close. In the end, three goals were enough to win today.
