The Olympic men’s ice hockey tournament began with a defeat for the 2022 Olympic champion. Despite a strong performance, hosts Italy lost to Sweden.
Finland was beaten 1:4 (0:1,1:0,0:3) by Slovakia in Group B in Milan on Wednesday. After the Slovaks took the lead through Juraj Slafkovsky (8th), the Scandinavians equalized through Eeli Tolvanen (25th). Goals from Dalibor Dvorsky (48th), Slafkovsky (51st/PP) and Adam Ruzicka (58th) brought the decision in favor of the Slovaks.
Strong performance from the hosts
