Olympia: ICEHL cracks for “Danish Dynamite”!

The Danish national ice hockey team will take part in the Olympic ice hockey tournament in Milan for the second time. There are also two active ICEHLers and two with league past.

In August 2021, Denmark qualified for the Olympic Games for the first time. In Beijing they finally took 7th place, now the second participation follows. For the Danes, the tournament begins on February 12th against Germany. They will also face the USA and Latvia in the group phase.

KAC defender Jesper Jensen Aabo made it back into Denmark’s squad. He already laced up his skates in Beijing. The now 34-year-old has been playing for the Red Jackets since 2022 and scored 77 points in 136 games. Graz99ers defender Anders Koch is also there. The 28-year-old left-shooter moved to the Mur last summer and had one goal and 13 assists in 31 appearances. This will be the first Olympic Games for Koch, who has often represented Denmark at international level.

With Morten Poulsen and Phillip Bruggisser, two players with an ICE past were nominated. Poulsen stormed for the Graz99ers in 2015/16 and for HC Innsbruck in 2017/18. Overall he had a strong 54 points. Phillip Bruggisser played in just eight games for the KAC in 2021/22 and then said goodbye to the Fischtown Pinguins, for whom he still plays today. Both Poulsen and Bruggisser were in Denmark’s squad in 2022.
