Olimpija Ljubljana clearly beat EC Red Bull Salzburg 5-1 and has now been unbeaten in five games. Thanks to the success, the Dragons climbed to fourth place in the table.
Olimpija Ljubljana celebrated a clear victory over series champions EC Red Bull Salzburg on Friday evening and is now the fifth participant in the quarter-finals of the win2day ICE Hockey League. It was the Slovenians’ fifth success in a row – a new season record for the “green dragons”.
From the start, the Slovenian hosts presented themselves as more dangerous than the series champions from Salzburg. Jan Drozg opened the scoring in the fifth minute and scored his third goal of the season. The Red Bulls managed to equalize in the second period, but Olimpija quickly hit back: Nicolai Meyer initially restored the lead before Drozg increased the score to 3-1 with his second goal of the evening. In the final section, Drozg completed his hat trick with 4:1, before Nik Simsic made the final score 5:1.
