Olimpija Ljubljana are plagued by injury concerns!

In terms of sport, things are going really well for Olimpja Ljubljana this season. And that despite the fact that the Dragons from Slovenia are also struggling with injuries.

The Laibach team have played 19 games so far and are in second place with 37 points – making the Dragons the first pursuer of HC Falkensteiner Pustertal, who only have two points more.

Offensive powerhouse

No team in the entire win2day ICE Hockey League has so far scored as many goals as Ljubljana. 89 direct hits were scored – Vorarlberg and Innsbruck only have 85 between them! The driving force is Nicolai Meyer, who leads the scoring with 35 points. But ICE returnee TJ Brennan is also showing his offensive qualities again. With 31 points, the defender is in second place. Remarkable: the third best league scorer is Ferencvaro’s striker Brady Shaw, who is already twelve (!) points behind Meyer.

Access and injury concerns

Most recently, the Laibach team brought an experienced defender into the league. Andrew MacWilliam became champions with Salzburg a few years ago and is supposed to give the defense even more stability. Depth in the squad is also necessary because some cracks are struggling. Nathanael Halbert is injured on the defensive; his last appearance to date was on October 31st.

In the storm, Evan Polei and Rok Kapel are on the mend. Both cracks were last in the Dragons’ squad in October. The Canadian Zach Boychuk, who moved to Laibach in the summer, is waiting for more detailed examinations. The veteran quickly found his feet with 18 points, but he missed the last three games due to injury. It remains to be seen when Olimpija Ljubljana will get reinforcements from their own ranks again.
