Luca Erne is leaving EC VSV with immediate effect and moving to Pioneers Vorarlberg. The tall winger only came to Villach before the start of the current season and completed a total of 26 appearances in the Adler uniform. He scored a goal in a 4-3 win over the Graz99ers.
From both sides’ point of view, the collaboration between EC iDM Heat Pumps VSV and the Vorarlberg native did not meet the original expectations. Both the club and the player had signaled several times that they would consider an amicable separation.
This has already been discussed several times, but has not yet been implemented due to the tense squad situation at VSV. A solution has now been found with the Pioneers Vorarlberg: Erne will be loaned to Vorarlberg for the rest of the current season, and the contractual relationship will finally end at the end of the season.
Found a solution together
Head coach Pierre Allard classified the step particularly with regard to the further development of young homegrown players: “We are constantly evaluating our squad and have come to the conclusion that we have several young, local players in our ranks in whom we see great potential and who we would like to specifically promote in the coming months. In many conversations with Luca, we also discovered together that the desire to return home played a major role for him. His homesickness was a factor in this decision. Luca has had a lot of fun during his time at “VSV always worked hard, put the team first and gave everything every day – we deserve our great respect for that. We are happy for him that he is now returning home and wish him much success in this phase and all the best in the country.”
“Luca knows the coaching team and the environment”
PIV sports director Michael Lampert said: “Luca is now part of our team, will train on Saturday and play against Innsbruck on Monday. It is a very good solution for everyone involved, the return of Erne also brings more depth to the squad. Luca knows the coaching team and the environment and will definitely be integrated quickly.”
