36-year-old Canadian dual citizen Mark Katic, born in Ontario, can look back on an impressive career. He made the leap into the professional sector early on and was also under contract in the NHL system with the New York Islanders. He subsequently gained extensive experience in various North American leagues before his path took him to Europe (DEL, SHL, KHL) and finally to Austria.
Katic played for the Eagles for a total of three seasons and played 137 games in the blue and white uniform. During this time he scored 6 goals and contributed 43 assists, giving a total of 49 points with a plus-minus balance of +2.
The strong, excellent ice skater and short defender was an important part of the blue-white team. As a thinker and leader, he was particularly impressive on the offensive, particularly in the power play on the blue line. He repeatedly set the tone. In addition, Katic was also a great asset off the ice: with his always positive manner, he ensured a good atmosphere in the dressing room and led the way with great commitment.
In his impressive professional career, Katic played over 1,100 games in almost 20 seasons at the highest level – evidence of his consistency, professionalism and passion for the sport of ice hockey.
The EC iDM Heat Pumps VSV would like to thank Mark Katic for his achievements in the VSV dress, his always good mood and his tireless commitment. The club wishes him all the best for his future professional and private life and congratulates him on a great career.
