Official statement: That’s why the ICEHL is tightening the sanctions for caning

A few days ago we reported that caning would be punished more severely in the ICEHL in the future. Now the league has confirmed this and explained the reasons:

In the recent past there has been an increasing number of stick strikes in the win2day ICE Hockey League. For this reason, the DOHOPs (Department of Hockey Operations) recently issued a new guideline to punish stick strikes more consistently.

This stricter standard means that players should act more cautiously in the future and commit fewer fouls of this type.
