The two finalists have been decided since yesterday evening, everything is set, but the ice hockey fans have to wait another week for the start of the final series between the Graz99ers and HC Pustertal.
The Moser Medical Graz99ers easily beat Hydro Fehervar AV19 in four games and became the first finalist. Yesterday evening, HC Falkensteiner Pustertal celebrated their participation in the final after an overtime victory over Olimpija Ljubljana. But now we just have to wait.
Football calendar as a spoilsport
Ice hockey fans have to wait another week for the start of the series between the Styrians and the Wolves from Bruneck. The reason: if the game had started on April 12th, as was actually planned, there could have been up to four collisions with the schedules of Sturm Graz and the GAK.
A release from the league states succinctly: “It is not possible to bring forward the final series starting next Sunday due to official requirements. Due to the fixed football schedule, the 99ers are faced with unavailability of the hall through no fault of their own.”
The Graz99ers will welcome the South Tyroleans on Wednesday, April 15th for the first game of the ICE finals. A possible Game 7 would take place two weeks later, on April 29th.
