With five victories, one of them in extra time, Austria’s women’s ice hockey national team secured first place at the World Cup Division IA in Shenzhen (CHN) on April 19, 2025, wrote Austrian ice hockey history. For the first time, the promotion to the top division was achieved, which for the first time in 2026 both national teams were also represented in the highest World Cup category.
The head of head coach Alexander Bröms will play from November 06 to November 16, 2026 at the World Cup in Denmark. A group will play in Herning – where Austria’s gentlemen completed the quarter -finals against Switzerland in May – a second venue is still open and, like the official schedule, is only published by the IIHF.
The date in November was chosen because it is also the first time in women’s ice hockey that the World Cup is also played in an Olympic Winter. The group division has already been made for this. In group A, the ÖEHV selection meets world champion USA, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Germany.
