ÖEHV: Latvia manages revenge against Bader’s troops!

After the 4-3 win in the first test match against Latvia, the Balts took revenge in the second duel and won 1-0.

Once again they gave each other nothing. Both teams kept the tempo high and had some good chances in which the goalkeepers, who were both named best players, were able to excel.

In the first third, Latvia had a little more share of the game and had more chances to score overall, but Sebastian Wraneschitz kept the score. In addition, they also had to excel in penalty killing due to three time penalties. Conversely, they couldn’t use two power plays in the middle third to take the lead.

In the final period, Benjamin Nissner had the lead when he stormed alone towards the Latvian goal. Unfortunately, his shot hit the bar. Oskars Lapinskis then sent the approximately 9,000 fans into ecstasy and scored the winning goal in the 51st minute.

The red-white-red cracks are now heading back home. In the coming days, head coach Roger Bader will nominate the squad for the coming week, in which they will play the first home game against Italy in preparation for the World Cup.
