The ÖEHV selection lost the second game at the 3-nation tournament in Oslo against hosts Norway. In the end, head coach Roger Bader’s team had to admit defeat 2:5.
The hall fell silent, the Austrian bench cheered and Bernd Wolf beamed. 31 seconds had been played when the defender made it 1-0. However, Norway quickly recovered from this shock and spoiled Nicolas Wieser’s fourth international match. Within ten minutes the Scandinavians moved ahead to 4-1 and held the lead until the break.
From this return, Austria got off to another dream start in the form of Bernd Wolf. Norway received a penalty after a few seconds, which Bernd Wolf took advantage of with his sixth goal in the national team. It was actually supposed to herald a race to catch up. However, Norway had something against it and increased it to 5:2 in the 25th minute. Austria was the better team overall, fought for every target and created numerous chances.
Despite a superior final third, the result could no longer be shaken. Norway won the tournament in front of almost 4,000 spectators, but Austria went home with a good feeling.
