The Vienna Capitals are making further personnel decisions. At least eight players will no longer be part of the Vienna Capitals professional team next season.
Eight players are leaving the Caps
Goalkeeper Evan Cowley, defenders Marc-Olivier Duquette, Randy Gazzola, Nate Kallen and Erik Kirchschläger as well as attackers Mitch Hults, Kevin Macierzynski and Armin Preiser did not receive a new contract offer from the capital club. The octet is leaving the Danube townspeople when their contracts expire. While Macierzynski has since moved to HC TIWAG Innsbruck, goalie Cowley ended his career. The Capitals will soon provide information about further fixed personnel decisions that affect the professional team.
Evan Cowley joined the Capitals last summer. In 38 league games, the 30-year-old recorded a catch rate of 90.4 percent. Marc-Olivier Duquette moved to Vienna in February due to the Capitals’ injury woes. The defender scored one goal in seven games. Randy Gazzola, on the other hand, came to the federal capital in the summer. The league-proven defender played 49 games for the Capitals. In these, the 32-year-old recorded 26 points (8 goals + 18 assists).
Like Duquette, Nate Kallen came to Kagran in February. The American played eight games for the Capitals. Erik Kirchschläger moved to Vienna in November 2024. The defender made 58 appearances for the Donaustadt team. The American Mitch Hults recorded 34 goals (9 goals + 25 assists) in 47 appearances in his only season in Vienna.
Kevin Macierzynski came to Vienna from the Pioneers Vorarlberg before the pre-playoffs. The 33-year-old played all three games in the pre-playoff series against Hydro Fehérvár AV19. Armin Preiser, on the other hand, was trained at the Vienna Capitals. The 25-year-old made his professional debut in the 2019/20 season and made a total of 273 appearances for his hometown club.
