No new contract: Ex-KAC Defender back on the market

Swedish defender Petter Hansson is without a club again. Danish champions Herning Blue Fox have officially confirmed that the 29-year-old will leave the club after the 2025/26 season.

Successful years in Denmark

Hansson has played for Herning since 2020 and developed into one of the most consistent defensive players in the Metal Ligaen. He recently won the Danish championship with the Blue Fox and collected a strong 126 scorer points in a total of 211 games.

The strong offensive defender was also able to make an impact internationally. With Herning he won silver in the Continental Cup 2023/24 and bronze in the 2025/26 season.

Ex-NHL draft pick with ICEHL experience

The Swede was drafted by the New York Islanders in the seventh round at position 202 in 2015 and was considered a great talent early on. Hansson was trained at Linköping HC, where he worked through all the youth teams and also made appearances in the SHL.

ICEHL fans know the left-handed shooter primarily from his time with the EC-KAC. In the 2019/20 season, Hansson played 41 games for Klagenfurt in what was then the EBEL.
