Nick Petersen leads the KAC to a clear home win over Fehervar AV19!

The EC-KAC clearly prevailed in the third game of the quarter-final series against Hydro Fehervar AV19. In front of their home crowd, the Klagenfurt team celebrated an 8:3 success. The first attack formation around Nick Petersen, Jan Mursak and Simeon Schwinger collected no less than eleven scorer points.

Hydro Fehérvár AV19 was only able to stand up to the KAC in the first third. The game on Thursday evening had only just begun when Jan Mursak was able to celebrate the 1-0 win after an assist from Nick Petersen. However, the Hungarians’ answer came promptly: After a mistake in the Red Jackets’ build-up, Darren Archibald fed Trevor Cheek, who scored to make it 1-1 in the third minute. The first third continued lively: After a remarkable move by Nick Petersen, Simeon Schwinger made it 2-1 in the sixth minute, before Fehérvár equalized five minutes later through Darren Archibald. But the last word in a spectacular starting third was far from spoken: first the KAC made it 3-2 after a good forecheck from Schwinger through Jesper Jensen Aabo – the primary assist also went to Petersen for the third goal. The red devils from Székesfehérvár had the right answer again – in the first half – and equalized through Janos Hari.

The second section also continued with many goals. Almost as per the program, Thimo Nickl made it 4:3 – the primary assist came from Petersen for the fourth time that evening. For the first time, however, there was no response from the guests, but rather the first two-goal lead, for which Mathias From was responsible. And the Red Jackets continued cheerfully: In the 30th minute, Nick Petersen finally scored the goal. In the middle third, Daniel Obersteiner increased the score to 7:3 for the KAC.

In the final section the game became even rougher. But the KAC did not let itself be disturbed. To crown the evening, Petersen – with a double majority – finally scored his second goal or his sixth scorer point and thus set a new playoff record.
