535-time NHL player David Booth continues his impressive international ice hockey career. After the 40-year-old veteran recently caused a sensation in the Australian AIHL with the Melbourne Ice, he is now moving to the British EIHL to the Fife Flyers in Scotland.
Goal machine in Australia
Booth, who scored a total of 124 goals and 113 assists in the NHL for teams such as the Florida Panthers (with a career-high 31 goals and 29 assists in the 2008/09 season), Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings, demonstrated his unbroken offensive power Down Under. After his time at the Hungarian Ferencvárosi TC (now ICEHL), where he contributed 10 goals and 7 assists in eight games in the first division, he moved to the Melbourne Ice.
In the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL), the winger dominated the action and delivered a spectacular number of points: He collected a strong 64 points in 14 games!
Next stop: Scotland
Despite his age, Booth remains a sought-after player in the European leagues. His globetrotting now takes him to the United Kingdom, where he joins the Fife Flyers in the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL). The Scottish representative benefits from the former NHL star’s enormous experience and continued goal threat.
Booth, who was drafted in the second round by the Florida Panthers in 2004 and also represented the USA at the World Championships, underlines his great commitment and passion for the sport of ice hockey with this move, even in his fourth decade.
