NHL: Radko Gudas receives his fifth suspension!

The Czech defender Radko Gudas has been forced to watch the next games of his Anaheim Ducks. He caught a lock after a knee check.

In the duel between the Anaheim Ducks and the Toronto Maple Leafs, Gudas had to end the game early after ten minutes of ice time. The reason for this was a collision with US superstar Auston Matthews, who sustained a knee injury during the action – the season is over for him.

The NHL Department of Players Safety has now suspended Gudas for five games. For the 35-year-old Ducks captain, it is the fifth suspension of his NHL career.

In 2015 he was suspended for three games for a headshot on Mika Zibanejad, followed a year later by a six-game suspension for a check on Austin Czarnik. His longest pause to date came at the end of 2017, when he was sidelined for ten games after a slash against Mathieu Perreault. The last “incident” until recently was in February 2019 when he had to take a break for two games after a “hi-stick” against Nikita Kucherov. This means Gudas is suspended for a total of 26 games.
