NHL: Minnesota Wild Statten Kirill Kaprizov with a mega contract!

The negotiations for a contract extension between Minnesota Wild and the Russian superstar Kirill Kaprizov have come to an end. The striker signed the most expensive NHL contract ever.

A total of $ 136 million! Exactly this sum will earn between 2026 and 2034. Minnesota and the Camp of the Russian agree on an extension over eight years, which Kaprizov brings an impressive $ 17 million a year. This makes the contract the most expensive in NHL history. So far, Torontos Auston Matthews has received 13.25 million a year, Leon Draisaitl earns 14 million from the upcoming season – Alexander Ovechkin from the total volume was 124 million in 1st place.

The new working paper applies from the 2026/27 season, from then on new CAP guidelines also apply in the NHL. This year the teams are likely to spend 95.5 million, from 2026 there are already 104 million, a year later the upper limit will be 113.5 million. So there is more money for superstars like Kaprizov. Connor McDavid and Cale Makar will also be facing potential contract extensions in the coming weeks and the signing of Kaprizov should provide an idea in which region the two should land. It remains to be seen whether McDavid cracks the 20 million mark.

Kaprizov goes to his sixth season with the game and has so far been completely convincing. In 319 games, the exceptional group collected strong 386 points, in 2021/22 he cracked the 100-point mark (108). Thus, some franchise pillars are under contract with the Austro-Crack Marco Rossi team in the long term. Kaprizov until 2034, defender Brock Faber until 2033 and Matt Boldy until 2030.
