The Vancouver Canucks are still without Marco Rossi. The 24-year-old from Vorarlberg has been suffering from a lower-body injury since the beginning of the year after he was hit by a puck in the left foot in the game against Philadelphia on December 31st – the same foot he had broken in October.
Head coach Adam Foote said after a training session that Rossi would probably be out for “two to three weeks”. Foote did not give any further details about the injury, but emphasized that caution was needed to prevent it from getting worse.
Rossi has already missed 18 of 43 games this season after not missing a single match in his first two full NHL seasons. In 25 appearances, the center has 15 points as a scorer (five goals, ten assists).
Without the Austrian, the Canucks recently suffered clear defeats against Detroit (1:5) and Toronto (0:5). It remains to be seen whether Rossi will be able to intervene again before the Olympic break, which begins with the NHL break on February 6th.
