NHL: Marco Rossi is about to make a comeback!

Ice hockey legionnaire Marco Rossi wants to attack in the NHL again after the Olympic break. The 24-year-old from Vorarlberg completed his first full training session for the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday after a month and a half injury break. It was about getting back to 100 percent, said Rossi. “And that’s how I feel right now – the first time since I’ve been here.” The center was traded to Vancouver by the Minnesota Wild in mid-December.

During the exchange deal, he had already suffered from the consequences of a shot that was blocked with his leg. The injury was aggravated by another hit in late December. Rossi explained that he didn’t feel well after the first incident, but continued playing. “It’s not easy. So much has happened, the trade and so on. When I came here, I wanted to play straight away. Looking back, maybe it wasn’t the best decision, but I feel good now.”

25 games remaining

The Canucks will play their first game after the Olympic break on February 25th (February 26th, 4:00 CET) at home against the Winnipeg Jets. 25 games of the season are still outstanding for the bottom of the league. “We can’t think about the table, we have to stay positive and think about our game,” emphasized Rossi. “We want to learn as much as we can as a group.”

He has only played eight games for his new club so far, scoring one goal and one assist, but was not yet in full possession of his strength. “It certainly wasn’t my game or my best in the few games. But it is what it is,” explained Rossi. “It’s about learning, proving it to the fans but also to myself. I want to be back to 100 percent. And that’s how I feel at the moment.”
The situation the team is in is different than in Minnesota. “But I’m really happy to be here.” The almost two-week Olympic break has been good. Rossi: “It was good to get away for a bit, also for the head. Now I feel really good and I’m happy to be back.”
