After Gerry Fleming (Vienna Capitals), Harry Lange (Graz99ers) and David Kiss (Fehérvár), the next coach dismissal could soon be imminent in the ICE Hockey League. At HCB Südtirol Alperia there has also been increased discussion recently about the future of head coach Kurt Kleinendorst.
Media reports from Italy, most recently from the South Tyrolean newspaper “Dolomiten”, indicate that his position is increasingly under scrutiny. Bozen is currently going through a difficult phase in terms of sport. Above all, the team struggles with a noticeable lack of efficiency: despite numerous shots on goal, the disc rarely finds its way into the net. On average, the HCB currently needs around 20 shots per goal – a value that is well below the expectations of a top team.
What makes matters worse is that Kleinendorst has to do without several key players for the current game. Defenders Mark Barberio and Dylan Di Perna as well as striker Pascal Brunner are out injured and further weaken the already challenged team.
Whether Kleinendorst will retain the trust of the club’s management despite the difficult situation or whether the league will experience its fourth coach dismissal of the season remains to be seen for the time being.
