New employer for former national team striker Niklas Bretschneider!

Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel is strengthening its offensive with a real top player: 15-time national player Niklas Bretschneider is moving to Kitzbühel. With his experience from five seasons at the Black Wings Linz and his national team appearances, the 26-year-old Viennese brings a lot of routine and quality to the team. After the 2024/25 season, the left-handed shooter did not receive a new contract with Linz and has been without a club since then.

“I’m very happy to be coming to Kitzbühel after a long wait and I’m really looking forward to playing ice hockey again and being able to play on Saturday. I believe that I can help the team with my experience. I played in the Bundesliga for a very long time and was on the ice for the national team against top opponents. One of my main tasks will be to lead the team on the ice and pass on my experiences to the young players,” explains Bretschneider Interview.

How much quality the newcomer brings is also shown by his 227 appearances in five years with Linz and his international experience with the Northern Cyclones in the NCDC. Bretschneider trained in New Hampshire (USA) from 2017 to 2020 before making the jump to the win2day ICE Hockey League.

Statement sports director Dr. Wilfrid Wetzl

“With Niklas, we have signed a somewhat more experienced player to our young team and thus also increased the depth of our squad. We have recently had a few absences and often not even four forward rows available,” says sports director Dr. Wilfrid Wetzl about the new addition. He also states: “He is a 15-time national team player and will certainly play a key role for us. He is an important reinforcement in terms of running, technique and play and we are very happy to have him at the Eagles.”
