New chapter: Young talent and academy back at the Black Wings Linz!

The Steinbach Black Wings Linz are happy to announce another important milestone. The offspring, which has been independent since 2020, as well as the academy, founded by the ice hockey association Upper Austria, are again fully integrated into the organization of the combat team.

One of the last major steps since the Steinbach Black Wings Linz reorganized a little more than three years ago can now be completed with great joy. The youth area (U9-U15) and the Academy (U17 & U20) outsourced by Corona and the disputes of the former club management are fully integrated into the umbrella organization of Profi-GmbH for the new season. As a result, all age groups – from the taster child to the combat team – are now competing under the same coat of arms and the same sporting management. In the future, this responsibility will be with Philipp Lukas, Head Coach of the professionals and sports director of the entire organization. His brother Robert Lukas acts as a link and coordinator between the ages and their trainers. With Harald Pschernig, a cult figure in the development area also leads the U20 – and thus the current last stage in front of the combat team. He is supported by a total of seven full -time coaches who look after the six young classes. Numerous volunteers and committed team managers complete the team of supervisors.

The merging is completed in the essential points and is now evident on both the ice and in the media appearance. The U9 to U15 area will be led under the famous logo of the combat team and the name Young Black Wings Linz in the future. Already at infancy girls and boys playfully learn the joy of movement. After getting started with trial training, the first steps follow on the way to the big dream: ice hockey professional. Afterwards, the young talents as part of the Black Wings Ice Hockey Academy are to be specifically prepared for the performance -oriented area. In addition to sporting development, the focus is on school and social support. The U17 & U20 will represent a separate academy logo, which was adapted to the re-strengthened brand of the combat team.

Special thanks go to the Upper Austrian ice hockey association, represented by President Christian Ladberg, and the previous managing director of the academy, Birgit Perthaler. Also due to the board of the previous Young Steel Wings Linz around Robert Lukas. Both sides were largely responsible for the continued existence of the youth work!

Philipp Lukas, Head Coach & Sports Director: “It is essential for us that from the first step on the ice to the professionals all come into contact with the same attitude and the same culture. The virtues go far beyond the ice rink and are social values that we want to live and live as a unity. Development.”

Both the youngsters and the academy have laid an excellent cornerstone in recent years. Works only with the support from all sides and I am very happy that we can contest a new era with the many coaches, employees, employees and helpers. ”
