After his farewell from Graz, defender Michael Kernberger found a new employer: the 28-year-old signed at EHC Linz and returns to the ICE Hockey League.
For him, a long time of uncertainty ends. “I am totally happy that I can finally play again. The fact that the KAC is waiting right at the start is of course perfect. I’m really hot for ice hockey,” he said in a conversation with the Small newspaper.
The past few months have been a real test for patience. There were always inquiries, but there were no concrete offers. Most recently, he found the VSV U20 connection as a guest player.
Without a doubt, however, this phase was not. “Sometimes it was already frustrating. There were moments when there were also thoughts of a career end. But I didn’t let it get myself down, but worked even harder,” said Kernberger. With the move to Linz, he now has the chance of restarting – and he wants to use it. “I am extremely motivated.”
