Miro Aaltonen apologizes for his behavior

Aaltonen spoke late Friday evening. “During the pre-Christmas break, I was in a nightclub and apparently used, for entertainment purposes, a substance that does not enhance performance, but is banned in sport.”

It is not yet known which substance the Finnish Olympic champion consumed in a prohibited manner. Neither Kloten nor Swiss Sport Integrity, which provisionally suspended the 31-year-old for an indefinite period due to a potential violation of anti-doping provisions, have yet commented on the case.

Aaltonen, who signed with Bern on a two-year contract valid from next season, further said that it was a stupid mistake. “I will seek help and I assume the consequences of my actions, reports SST. As soon as I am authorized to do so, I wish to return to my work. I offer my most sincere apologies for what I did to my loved ones and to HC Kloten, to the fans and teammates.”
