The possible entry of a team
Milan in the
ICE Hockey League
continues to cause discussions – and is apparently met with great skepticism across the league.
Hardly any basics available
Like insiders
Bernd Freimüller
reported, the issue will be officially addressed in the coming weeks. Behind the scenes, however, the mood among the eleven voting clubs is anything but euphoric. One main reason: There has never been an applicant with so few basics.
The Milan organization currently lacks practically everything that would be necessary for a league start – neither a suitable hall nor a squad in the adult or youth sector is available. There is also no evidence of a functioning official staff. The rumored donor is causing additional frowns: With
House of Doge According to Freimüller, a company from the crypto world is supposed to finance the entry.
Travel and resistance
In addition to the structural question marks, the logistical challenges are also an issue. The travel times would be significantly longer, especially for the teams from the east of the league.
Why the league is still checking
Despite the massive concerns, the league has to take the application seriously – also under pressure from its own situation. League manager
Christian Feichtinger
traditionally presents such projects optimistically, but the background is clear: the league has been struggling for years with the uncertainty that individual teams could be eliminated.
New organizations not only bring fresh ideas, but also urgently needed financial resources. In addition to an admission fee, they must provide additional guarantees to at least partially compensate for the lack of sponsorship and TV income.
