Michael Raffl is currently in third place in the ICE Hockey League with Red Bull Salzburg and is the most productive player on his team with 35 scorer points. On Friday, the 37-year-old from Villach returns to his hometown for the away game with the Bulls.
In terms of sport, things are going almost ideally for Raffl after his return from Switzerland, also because Salzburg has recently found stability after a bumpy start to the season. “Structure is the key word, we have started to do the little things right,” says the veteran, explaining the Bulls’ upswing in an interview with the “Kleine Zeitung”. Despite his success, his connection to VSV remains unbroken: “Villach is my home, I learned ice hockey there.”
This time there will be no Raffl-Rauchenwald family duel in the town hall, as the VSV captain and cousin Alexander Rauchwald is missing due to injury. Raffl told the “Kleine Zeitung” that he would return stronger after his cruciate ligament tear. In terms of sport, he expects a recently improved VSV, against whom Salzburg will have to concentrate defensively.
