Michael Raffl fixed his return to Austria a few weeks ago – but not to the home club VSV, as many fans had hoped in Villach, but to Salzburg. Now he gives in an interview with the Small newspaper
Insights why this was the right decision for the 36-year-old.
The striker closed a return to Villach in an interview with the
Small newspaper From the beginning: “It was the only right decision for my family and me. From a sporting point of view with a view to the further course of career. And openly, it was my only way to continue to play ice hockey professionally,” explains Raffl openly.
Despite his switch to Salzburg, the Villach embossing remains noticeable – especially when it comes to the KAC. “Klagenfurt was always a thorn in my side,” says Raffl with a grin. “You can get that in Villach as a teenager.”
After 14 years abroad, returning to the local league is also a restart for him and with clear ambitions. “In Salzburg you always have the chance to become a master,” he says without reducing team success to a single name.
