On Thursday, September 4, 2025, Werner Alfare died at the age of 75 in the Dornbirn hospital with his closest family. Our deepest sympathy applies in this difficult time of the family and all relatives.
On Sunday, August 17, 2025, Werner Alfare was traveling by bike when he suddenly collapsed. Despite immediately initiated resuscitation measures, Werner fell into a coma from which he no longer woke up until his death.
Werner Alfare has been associated with the EHC Lustenau in various functions since 1976. In addition to his family, he dedicated most of his life to the club. His functions stretched from the press officer to the team supervisor, the sporting director to the office of president, which he held from 2001 to 2011.
Even after his retirement, Werner was preserved to the EHC Lustenau as a “financial boss”. With advice and action, he was supported by the board and supported it with his great experience, his expertise and his tireless efforts. Werner has shaped the EHC Lustenau for almost five decades like no other.
“The news of his sudden death has shaken our club deeply. With Werner, we not only lose an esteemed friend, but also a special person whose gap will hardly be filled.
