Lots of ICEHL experience: Austro-Crack signs with the Zeller Eisbären!

The Zeller Eisbären are pleased to announce that Jacob Pfeffer will play for Zell am See next season. The young defender already has a lot of first league experience, already knows Zell am See and will strengthen the team significantly.

The name should not be new for many EKZ fans. At the end of the 23/24 season, Jacob Pfeffer moved to the Eisbären on loan and played 6 games for the Pinzgauer. Last season the left-shooter played for Kitzbühel, before that he was active for the Graz 99ers for five seasons and even made 8 international appearances for Austria during this time. Despite being only 25 years old, Jacob Pfeffer, who is not related to a figurehead of Zell ice hockey – Thomas Pfeffer, already has a lot of experience, including over 200 first division games. Jacob is an excellent skater – an important quality for Marcel Rodman’s system. In addition, he has a very well-developed understanding of the game, is strong in building up the game and is definitely available for offensive impulses. In his own zone he impresses with good work with the stick and strong positional play. His attitude towards sport is exemplary and with all these qualities he will be an asset to the Eisbären’s defense.

DATA CHECK

Jacob Pfeffer is 180 cm tall and weighs 86 kg. The past season was marked by injuries, so he only played 24 games for the Kitzbüheler Adler. He scored 4 goals and the same number of assists. 8 penalty minutes and -7 in the +/- balance complete the statistics.

CAREER

Jacob Pfeffer was born on February 11, 2001 in Vienna, where he also learned to ice skate. He spent large parts of youth ice hockey in Sweden, at Örebro, where he even led the U-18 team as assistant captain for a season and also played in all of Austria’s youth national teams. In the 2020/21 season he moved back to Austria and made his professional debut for Graz, where he from then on collected over 200 appearances in the ICEHL. After a mixed season at Kitzbühel, he is now moving to EKZ, where the defender also wants to win his first titles.

He can help us on both ends of the ice, is a good skater, can read the game well. He will certainly be able to help us.”

Managing Director Patrick Schwarz: “Jacob was already in Zell am See at the end of the 2023/24 season and made an excellent impression, both in terms of sport and personality. We have been in contact again and again over the last few years and are therefore even more pleased that we have now worked together again. He is a strong defender with a very strong understanding of the game. Jacob already knows our environment very well and has also played together with part of our team. The past season was not easy for him personally due to two injuries, after he had previously been over “Physically, he is once again in top shape, as before, and personally he is an absolute asset to our team.
