The last three games of the regular season are scheduled for the Vienna Capitals this week. It starts with tomorrow’s home game against the Moser Medical Graz99ers in the STEFFL Arena. On the way to a new attendance record, the Viennese home will once again be very well filled. In addition to standing room, there are currently only a few seats available. Tomorrow’s encounter starts at 7:15 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ORF Sport + and sporteurope.tv.
The Vienna Capitals enter the last week of the regular season in seventh place. Head coach Kevin Constantine’s team has 64 points after 45 games. With the 4-1 win last Friday at the Steinbach Black Wings Linz, the Kagran team secured their pre-playoff ticket early. In order to secure the home advantage in the pre-playoffs tomorrow, the Capitals have to get at least one point against second-placed Graz if Hydro Fehérvár AV19 does not win the parallel game against EC Red Bull Salzburg. The Caps can again count on the support of well over 6,000 fans in the STEFFL Arena tomorrow.
The home advantage should also be a big trump card against the 99ers. The Caps won ten of the 13 home games played under head coach Kevin Constantine. From these, the Viennese took 31 points. In the 2026 calendar year, the Donaustadt team collected at least one point in every home game. The only home game that the Caps did not win this year was the duel against Linz on January 9th, which resulted in an overtime defeat. The Viennese won a total of six of their last eight matches in the win2day ICE Hockey League. Last Friday Simon Bourque played big in Linz. The Canadian was involved in three of four goals and ended his working day with three scorer points (1 goal + 2 assists). Bourque is the Caps’ top defender with 25 points (9 goals + 16 assists). The Viennese’s top scorer is still captain Linden Vey, who has 41 points (11 goals + 30 assists). Lukas Zach-Kiesling, who was recently absent due to injury, will return to the line-up tomorrow. Erik Kirchschläger, Scott Kosmachuk, Nelson Nogier, Senna Peeters and Marco Richter were also missing against Graz due to injury.
With the Moser Medical Graz99ers, the strongest team in the win2day ICE Hockey League is coming to the STEFFL Arena. The Styrians won five of their last six games. Most recently, head coach Dan Lacroix’s team won 4-2 in the top game against league leaders EC-KAC on Sunday. The Styrians could secure their place at the top tomorrow with a win in Vienna, but the Red Jackets have a game in hand after tomorrow’s matchday. Graz only needs two points from the next three games to qualify for the Champions Hockey League. 99ers top scorer Nick Bailen, who leads the Styrians with 50 points (11 goals + 39 assists), will not grace the STEFFL Arena tomorrow due to injury. The American is also the second best preparer (40) in the win2day ICE Hockey League behind teammate Lukas Haudum. 99ers goalie Maxime Lagacé is the fourth best goalkeeper in the league with a catch rate of 91.87 percent. For comparison: Caps goalkeeper Sebastian Wraneschitz holds the second best value in win2day ICE Hockey with a save percentage of 93.14 percent. The Graz team won the first three duels of the season against the Caps, who have been waiting for a victory over the Murstadt team since October 6, 2024.
Statement Lorenz Lindner, defender of the Vienna Capitals
Tomorrow’s game will be very intense, I expect a high pace. Graz wants to take first place, it would be important for us to secure seventh place. We want to have home advantage in the pre-playoffs. The support of the fans in the STEFFL Arena is very important to us. It is clear that we behave differently at home and away. We are working on being better away from home. But playing in the STEFFL Arena is always a huge pleasure for us.
