The KAC played its last group game of the 2025/26 Champions Hockey League season in Kuopio, Finland. The red jackets lost to KalPa 1:3 and said goodbye to the international stage.
KalPa got off to a strong start against the EC-KAC, which was still heavily weakened and took a 2-0 lead in the early stages with goals from Joona Saarelainen (6th) and Juuso Könönen (9th). The guests then got into the game better and found good chances through Clemens Unterweger and David Waschnig, but were stuck by the strong KalPa goalie Patrik Kerkola. In the second third the game was more even. Klagenfurt created a few opportunities but could not convert them. The first power play didn’t produce any results either. In the final period, Lukáš Kaňák increased the score to 3-0 for the Finns in the 48th minute. The KAC got a consolation goal through Thomas Hundertpfund (57th), but nothing more was possible. This means the Red Jackets will miss the CHL round of 16.
