The KAC has reacted to the long-term absence of captain Thomas Hundertpfund and signed a new striker, Nolan Moyle.
General manager Oliver Pilloni emphasizes that it is not about a direct replacement: “A Thomas Hundredppound cannot be replaced for the KAC. But we wanted a player who covers as many aspects as possible that our captain brought in,” said the 60-year-old to the “Crown newspaper“.
The versatile American was most recently under contract with the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL and previously gained international experience in the KHL with the Chinese club Kunlun. However, Moyle celebrated his greatest successes in college ice hockey, where he won two championships with the University of Michigan and even led the team as captain at times. Remarkable: some of his teammates at the time also made it into the best league in the world. Adam Fantilli strikes for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Franz Nazar for the Chicago Blackhawks, Matty Beniers for the Seattle Kraken. Defenders Luke Hughes and Owen Power also laced up their skates with Moyle.
Offensively, Moyle should particularly impress with other qualities. Coach Kirk Furey explains: “He’s a good ice skater, brings energy and makes us more stable. He’s physically good and his character is right.” The new signing’s contract initially runs until the end of the season, but Pilloni sees prospects: “He has the potential to be a building block for our team beyond the season.”
Tomorrow, Wednesday, the KAC will welcome the tenth-placed FTC-Telekom. Nolan Moyle could already celebrate his debut in the red jackets’ dress there.
