The EC-KAC made up a three-goal deficit in the first Carinthian derby of the season in Villach, but then produced too many mistakes and penalties that ultimately resulted in a 3-5 defeat.
Post Game Comment from Head Coach Kirk Furey:
“We were expecting an emotional game and that’s how it turned out, it was a very combative and ambitious encounter on both sides. I think that both teams had the chance to win this game. We have a very positive group that was convinced that we could come back even when we were 3-0 down. We succeeded and that says a lot. The momentum changed several times, it could have turned out differently in the end, but Villach deserves this win.
We scored on the power play and had a lot of time in the offensive zone, that’s positive, I’m not dissatisfied with our performance or our effort. VSV had several chances or goals through turnovers from us, but mostly these were passes that we wanted to play, that were part of our game, so there are no complaints about that. We forget today’s result and turn our attention to Sunday, where there is an important game in Ljubljana.”
