KAC-GM Pilloni disappointed: “I don’t understand why the CHL is not better accepted”

The KAC starts today in the Champions Hockey League-however, the big fanan storm in the Heidi-Horten-Arena Klagenfurter should fail.

According to the “Kleine Zeitung”, only around 1800 tickets are sold before the home game against Sparta Prague, and the number rose slightly to around 2200 for the encounter with the Eisbären Berlin on Saturday, but a full hall is far away.

KAC General Manager Oliver Pilloni is disappointed: “I do not understand why the Champions Hockey League is not better accepted. Every ice hockey fan of the country should not miss such games. Many criticize the falling quality of the league. But if there is high-class ice hockey, people also stay away.”

Coach Kirk Furey sees the situation pragmatic. For him and his team, the CHL appearances are a welcome opportunity to measure themselves against international top teams: “Usually you rarely play against such opponents. For us it is the second phase of preparation, we want to come into championship mode as quickly as possible.”
