The EC KAC suffered a setback in the playoff duel at Fehérvár AV19. The Klagenfurt team lost 3-2 away after extra time and suffered a bitter defeat in a hard-fought game.
KAC head coach Kirk Furey was self-critical after the game, but was already looking ahead: “The series is basically switching to the best-of-three format, so we’re going home, resting and doing better on Monday.”
The coach cited his team’s lack of efficiency as the main reason for the defeat: “Today we gave the opponent too many chances, and Fehérvár also played very compactly. We lacked patience at the front several times, so the efficiency wasn’t good either.”
Furey also emphasized his team’s difficulties in the away hall: “Overall, we always have a difficult time in this hall, so we have to find a solution.”
Despite the late equalizer to make it 2-2, the KAC ultimately had to admit defeat in overtime.
