In an ice hockey game that at times bordered on slapstick, the dismayed Red Jackets lost 6:9 at HC Innsbruck on Wednesday evening despite a three-goal lead.
For only the second time in 1,503 games since the league was founded in 2000, the EC-KAC ended a league game with nine goals conceded. Head coach Kirk Furey was shocked by his team’s performance after the game
“We weren’t good enough today. Period. Six goals scored should be enough to win, but we conceded nine goals. That leaves me a bit speechless and you don’t have to analyze it much, it just wasn’t enough. You have to have respect for every game in ice hockey, I expect us to prove that again at home on Friday.”
